In Memoriam

Esprit Travel and our family of friends and staff are saddened to announce the  passing of our beloved guide and staff member, Ron Beimel, who was a member of the group of eight climbers that perished in an avalanche on Nanda Devi in India, pursuing his passion for mountain climbing.

Ron was an extraordinarily accomplished young man, whose joy and effervescent spirit came through in all that he did. In his short time with us he mastered music, Japanese, tour guiding, mountaineering, photography and so much more in the Japanese tradition of the sensei – by unswerving devotion to perfection of his art.

His father, Steve Beimel, is the founder of Esprit’s Japan tours and has held the vision for our company for over 25 years.  We mourn with his parents, Steve and Ritsuko, and ask that you respect their privacy and please only send any condolences to us to pass on to them.

While we shall miss him here, we know that he now has higher peaks to climb and our blessings go with him on his journey of the heart.

The spacious sky
spans serene and clear
So blue above,
Oh, that our soul could grow
And become so Open!
